Who We Are

Blandford Forum is a small market town in Dorset, England, in the heart of Thomas Hardy's Wessex.  The Film Society is a voluntary-run organisation dedicated to bringing the best of world cinema to its 200 or so members.  We are a member of the British Federation of Film Societies.   Our season begins as the nights draw in in early September and runs through to early spring.

We launch our 15th season of international cinema on Thursday, 6th September, 2007. This season, as always, we will be screening award-winning films from around the world. Moreover, you will be seeing these films in a 'club' atmosphere;  tea and coffee are available before and after the show.  You can tell us what you think of the films - and detailed film notes are provided!

Screenings take place in the main hall of The Blandford School (entrance opposite the hospital) in Milldown Road, Blandford, on Thursday evenings. Doors open at 7.15pm. Shows start at 7.45pm. There is part-tiered seating for about 200 people and ample parking. Smoking is not permitted on the premises.

If you live in the Blandford area and this sounds like a good way to spend your winter Thursday evenings, fill in the
application form and either take it to It's a Gift, East Street, Blandford (Opposite Sheep Market Hill) or post it to the Membership Secretary, Sarah Fale, 3 Field View, Alexandra Street, Blandford, DT11 7JQ (past members please note change of Membership Secretary).

To reserve guest tickets members should phone Brian or Angie Winkle on 01258 452975.  Guest tickets must be reserved prior to the day of screening.  Guest tickets cannot be sold on the day of screening.  Tickets cost £4.50 per guest.  Members are asked to accompany their guests.
